Touching Architecture

“Touch is the sensory mode that integrates our experience of the world with that of ourselves.”
– Juhani Pallasmaa, Eyes of the Skin

Buildings surround our everyday experience of the world. Yet it’s incredible how little we physically engage with the buildings we inhabit. It’s easy to overlook the significance of the ubiquitous detail. The door handle for example, hidden in plain sight. It is the first understated threshold of our rare and physical encounter with the act of ‘touching architecture’.

In many of our recent projects, we have been asked by our clients to design and contribute to the smaller and often larger details that make up a truly bespoke home. From door handles, dining tables, beds, side units and larger bespoke components. These items are carefully woven to align with the central idea that exists within each home we make.

It's an inspirational journey - meeting and working with artisans and craftspeople in Murano London and across the UK. This has allowed us to gain material and product insight. Refined to the finest level of detail by using the knowledge of local craftspeople to inspire and refine what we do, delivering products of deep thought and authenticity to our clients.
