Cliff House
Perched high up on a limestone cliff where the Bristol Channel meets the Atlantic, Cliff House is a place to watch the sky dissolve into the sea. With open-plan living on the first floor, our clients live among the ever-changing light and atmosphere of the ocean. Wind-blown hawthorn and crisp bracken speak of a landscape that is constantly under pressure from passing storms. The home is content under dark bellowing skies or blue azure days due to deep projecting balconies, overhangs and screens; all providing shelter from sun, wind and rain. This deep appreciation for exposure is woven into the material narrative of the home - enduring cedar wood permeates boundaries, promoting a feeling of warmth, comfort and a deep sense of calm.
From the Client
”It is great to live in a home that complete strangers and neighbours regularly compliment us on and has won several prestigious architectural awards… it is very clear that Hyde and Hyde have designed a home that goes well beyond our original expectations.”
